A look back at ‘Break Point’ directed by Jay Karas

In honor of the U.S. Open, we took a look back at Break Point, the 2015 tennis film directed by Jay Karas.

The idea for the film was developed during the U.S. Open when Jeremy Sisto and Gene Hong realized it had been far too long since a tennis film hit the screens. What seems like a film about a tennis-playing duo, evolves into a compelling narrative centered around family.

The visual component of the tennis sequences required much attention to detail from Karas, who told the LA Times at the time of the film’s release that he designed “visual art” for how he wanted to shoot each match.

The film celebrates the two year anniversary of its release on September 4 of this year, in perfect time for a rewatch during the U.S. Open. Watch the trailer above!
